Difference between Ultrabook, Netbook and Notebook

Posted by K. Swaviman 5 Comments

netbook, notebook, ultrabook
Many of us are confused with the terms notebook, netbook & ultrabook. Some of us even don’t know which type of laptop they are having. So here we have listed some key features which makes each of them different from the others. Following these, you can easily make difference between notebook, netbook & ultrabook. Now if you ask the difference between notebook and laptop then I can only say that in this 21st century there is almost no difference. But years ago, notebooks used to be thinner and smaller screen sized devices mainly designed for portability whereas the laptops used to be simply the substitute to desktop in terms of mobility. In those days laptop computers were having more features than any notebook. But now time has changed.
So following are the key differences between the above mentioned threes.

NETBOOKS:

net book
Netbooks are small, low cost, low weight & compact laptop computers. As per the Wikipedia “Netbooks are a category of small, lightweight, legacy-free, and inexpensive computers.” These are mainly designed to give the laptops more portability and to make it light weight along with a low cost pc. These don’t have CD-Drives, platter hard disks, Ethernet cables and extra peripherals. For them who only surf in internet & do light works like listening to music or writing a document, netbook is the best preferable one. Netbooks have lesser computing power than notebooks.

NOTEBOOKS:

best notebook
These are designed to provide a perfect substitute to the deskies which can handle almost all the works that a desktop can do. These have a high speed processor & hence a higher energy consumption than netbooks. Notebooks come with a wide screen & more number of peripherals including CD-Drive, Ethernet ports etc. Hence they carry a higher cost too.
One of the major differences between netbook & notebook is, Netbooks are meant for internet related activities like surfing on internet or emails etc. whereas Notebooks are designed for handling most of the computational works a desktop does. CNET has concluded that “netbooks are smaller, cheaper notebooks. They are having so similar specifications that for a general shopper there really is no distinction between the devices.”

ULTRABOOKS:

Ultra book
Ultrabook is the high end subnotebook designed to add various features along with an increased battery life to the laptop. To be more specific it is a trademark brand name by intel. Due to their compact size they too lack some of the notebook features, but still have more features & efficiency than netbooks.

So if you are a heavy gamer or user of number of apps and softwares then you should always go for a notebook. If you have nothing to do with the latest softwares, netbook is the option. But if you are looking for a versatile device with low budget and high performance then the ultrabooks will be your best companion.

Z Launcher for Androids for free download

Posted by K. Swaviman
Nokia (an independent unit of Nokia, not sold to Microsoft ) has recently released a Launcher App for androids called "Z Launcher.". This is one of the Best Android Launchers of all time to download. This Launcher is a pre-beta version and compatible only with smartphones (not tablets) having android version 4.1 or higher. This comes with an amazing feature called “Scribble” means to draw the first letter of the contact name you want to call or text or first letter of the name of the app you want to use & the launcher will bring a short list of contacts and apps in your mobile to choose from. And this is the reason behind its naming “Z Launcher”.

                                   You can call it a “predictable launcher”, because the more you use this launcher, the more it knows you as well as your needs. After installing this, like other launchers it will also show the time, date & upcoming calendar event on the home screen. But what makes it special from other launchers is it learns the apps that the user uses at specific time of the day & also the persons that the user contacts on specific times of specific days & places those apps & contacts on home screen at that time when you need them really. So you don’t have to swipe for a long time to use any app or to find out your favourite contact. The more the user uses his smartphone with this launcher, the better it gets in predicting the needs of the user at right time.

For example- if a person plays temple run while at the restaurant or while travelling to his home then for that particular time duration of those specific days, it will show the temple run app on the Home screen. Likewise if someone calls his friend every night after dinner then it will show his/her contact every night at that particular time on home screen.

With all these happy features, over all it is a worth downloading app. But one thing to remember is you will not get this at your play store. You have to download it from Z Launcher’s Official Web site or if not possible from torrent files. Just register with your google account and you will be able to download.

Disadvantages:

Another limitation of it is being a pre-Beta version (though the company has assured to launch the global and updated version soon, but it is yet to come) it is supported in some specific handsets only such as Google Nexus 5, Samsung GalaxyS III, S IV, S V, Moto X, Sony Xperia Z1 & HTC One. But don’t get upset. We got to know from the feedbacks of some of our readers that it also works with LG G3. Though this phone is not listed in the Z Launcher’s website (i.e. not officially supported) but still it allows the app to be downloaded. So just land on their site and give it a try. Most probably it may work on yours too.

If it didn’t run well with your device then we have got some other launchers for you which will definitely do nearly the same job (though not scribbling), namely Aviate and EverythingMe Launcher. These too come with the prediction feature. I would recommend Aviate than EverythingMe as I got a good user experience with it than the other. Use it and share your experiences with us.

If you have anything to share with us then please comment.

The Future of Smartphones: Phonebloks

Posted by K. Swaviman

The Gadget we are discussing here is truly the future of smartphones. Though it hasn’t taken the shape of reality, but still it is a better gadget than any smartphones in terms of features and versatility. This phoneblok is a modular smartphone concept given by Dutch designer Dave Hakkens. Though it is not the first concept of modular smartphone, but it has become popular because of the support & attraction it has garnered.

Concept:

The “Bloks” are the third party components those are to be attached to a main board in order to assemble the entire smartphone. Each blok has to be its own functionalities and can be assembled or disassembled as per the need of the user.
In this way people will not have to spend money on the extra features of any smartphone which are of no use to them. For example- if a person needs a normal handset loaded with a good camera then he can purchase the general phonebloks as per his need and a good camera blok from a good company like Nikon or sony and finally assembles them so as to make a suitable phone for him within his budget.

Benefits:

One of the main aims of its design is to reduce electronic waste.

Bloks can be replaced as per requirement like to change a defective part (instead of changing the whole smartphone) or to upgrade or to add new functionalities etc.

These parts called “Bloks” would be available in “app stores for hardware” where users could buy new and old bloks & sell their old ones too.

From the day one it has been gaining attentions of various news agencies like CNN, Forbes, Yahoo! News etc. Also it has gathered a considerable number of supports in social medias like Twitter, ThunderClap & Facebook. Till February of this year it had gained over 950,000 supporters & and a social media reach of more than 380 million people.

Market place:

Keeping in view its never decreasing popularity many world class companies have made partnership with “Phonebloks”. Some of them are GOOGLE, SENNHEISER, FAIRPHONE & CMNTY to note.

After exceeding 900,000 number of supporters in ThunderClap, Hekken collaborated with Motorola on ProjectAra. Google’s ATAP Team is also working on this project to give it a practical shape.

THIS MODULAR PHONE IS SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED IN JANUARY 2015.

 So only time will say how this modular phone concept affects the huge smartphone market in the world.

Brunton Hydrogen Reactor: The best power bank for mobiles review

Posted by K. Swaviman 2 Comments

In these days many of us are using power banks to charge our smartphones and laptops while travelling. With the help of these we can use the devices without any worry even when we are away from the socket. But most of the power banks available in the market are capable enough to charge your devices once or twice and also need to be charged fully to give the required back up. But what, if I say about a power bank which can charge your mobile 5-6 times without depending upon Mr. socket. Yes , it is true.

Brunton’ has developed a power bank i.e. a Hydrogen Reactor which produces electrical energy. But the best part of it is – water comes out as a by-product from this. So it is nature friendly. Also it comes with a Hydrogen-core(the cartridge). The hydrogen-core when paired with the Hydrogen-reactor serves as a fuel cell. It can charge a smartphone around six times. Once the hydrogen-core drains out you have to put it in a Hydrolyzer.
                                              In technical language when the hydrogen core is put inside the hydrolyser, it packs hydrides into it. And when used with the reactor a platinum catalyst separates positively charged hydrogen ions from negatively charged electrons. When the electrons constitute the current, the hydrogen ions are forced through an electrolytic membrane where they combine with oxygen to form water.

BENEFITS:

1. Unlike Lithium-ion batteries these never run out of charge even if it is kept for months unused.
2. Once fully charged it can charge any device more than five times(depending upon consumption)
3. Ideal for hikers and travellers.
4. Eco friendly and works even at drastic environments
5. Lifespan of a Cartridge: 1000 full cycles (3000 charges of a phone)

Technical specifications:

Dimension: 13.5 x 7.3 x 3.4 cm
146g Reactor, 242g with Hydrogen Core;
Solid state with no natural discharge;
OUTPUT – Standard USB(USB charging),5volt, 1 or 2 amp(switchable);
INCLUDES 2 HYDROGEN CORES Equal to 9000 mAh ;

Another important thing you should know that this power bank comes with 2 hydrogen cores and a hydrogen reactor and you have to buy the hydrolyser which charges the cores, by paying some extra amount. This worth buying product is now available at amazon online stores. Variants with different colours are available too.
                                              If you have any question regarding Brunton Hydrogen Reactor Fuel cell system then let us know though comments.
